Which USA eSIM should I choose?
Compare USA eSIMs: Verizon daily plans, AT&T and Verizon with top-up, or Canada, Mexico or Europe added. IP location, top-up and start window compared.

On this page
For a trip to the United States only, choose United States eSIM if you want daily plans on Verizon and a top-up for them, or United States eSIM Special if you want one data allowance on AT&T and Verizon that you can top up on every plan. If you are also visiting Canada, choose United States & Canada eSIM or North America eSIM (which adds Mexico), and if you are also touring Europe, Europe & United States 54 eSIM covers both on one install.
All five plans start when they first connect to a network in a country they cover, so you can install yours before you fly. None of them includes a US phone number. Compare prices for the same data and days on the United States eSIM plans page, because they change.
Which plans cover the United States?
These facts come from our United States destination page, checked on 7 November 2026. The plan page is the final word if anything changes.
| Plan | Countries | Networks in the US | IP location | Start window |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| United States eSIM | United States | Verizon | One of Belgium, Singapore and the United States | Starts on first connection; use within 90 days of purchase |
| United States eSIM Special | United States | AT&T and Verizon (4G/5G) | Not listed on the page | Starts on first connection; use within 60 days of purchase |
| United States & Canada eSIM | United States and Canada | AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon (4G/5G) | Poland | Starts on first connection; use within 60 days of purchase |
| North America eSIM | United States, Canada and Mexico | Verizon (4G/5G) | Singapore | Starts on first connection; use within 90 days of purchase |
| Europe & United States 54 eSIM | 54 countries | AT&T (4G/5G) | One of Poland and the United Kingdom | Starts on first connection; use within 90 days of purchase |
Every plan page adds the same caution: the networks are set by the mobile service and can change without notice, and coverage depends on the network in the area, your phone and other conditions. The pages say 5G where available, otherwise 4G. We do not rank the networks against each other; the list tells you which ones the eSIM can use.
All five allow hotspot and are data only, with no calls or SMS on the plan. If you need to receive calls or text codes on your home number, keep your home SIM on alongside the eSIM; data-only eSIMs: calls, SMS and WhatsApp explains the setup.
Daily data or one allowance?
A daily plan gives you a fresh allowance every day, and unused daily data does not roll over. A one-allowance plan gives you a single amount of data for the whole validity period.
| Plan | Daily options | After the day’s data | Daily reset | One-allowance options | After the allowance | Top-up |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| United States eSIM | 500 MB to 3 GB a day, 1 to 30 days | Slows to 128 kbps | 24 hours after activation | 1 GB to 50 GB, 7 to 30 days | 1 GB and 2 GB plans end the connection; 3 GB and larger slow to 128 kbps | Daily plans only |
| United States eSIM Special | None | Not applicable | Not applicable | 1 GB to 50 GB, 7 to 30 days | The connection ends | Every plan |
| United States & Canada eSIM | 500 MB to 3 GB a day, up to 90 days | Slows to 512 kbps | Midnight GMT | 1 GB to 50 GB, 7 to 30 days | The connection ends | Every plan |
| North America eSIM | 500 MB to 3 GB a day, 1 to 30 days | Slows to 128 kbps | 24 hours after activation | 1 GB to 50 GB, 7 to 30 days | 1 GB and 2 GB plans end the connection; 3 GB and larger slow to 128 kbps | Daily plans only |
| Europe & United States 54 | 500 MB to 3 GB a day, 1 to 30 days | Slows to 128 kbps | 24 hours after activation | 1 GB to 50 GB, 7 to 30 days | 1 GB and 2 GB plans end the connection; 3 GB and larger slow to 128 kbps | Daily plans only |
The slower speed after a daily allowance is a fair-use limit, not more full-speed data. Our fair-use worksheet explains how to compare these limits between plans.
United States & Canada eSIM resets at midnight GMT, which our page says is afternoon or evening in the US, and its first day starts when the eSIM first connects, so day one can be just a few hours. Its page lists the same 512 kbps limit for every daily plan.
How much data you need depends on how you use your phone, not on the destination. Work it out with the travel eSIM data budget worksheet, then pick the shape:
- Daily suits days that look alike, and a heavy day cannot eat into the next.
- One allowance suits uneven days. On United States eSIM Special and United States & Canada eSIM every plan can be topped up; on the other three a one-allowance plan cannot, so choose enough when you buy.
How do I choose in four questions?
- Is the United States your only country? If yes, compare United States eSIM and United States eSIM Special. Add Canada with United States & Canada eSIM, or Canada and Mexico with North America eSIM. For a trip that also covers Europe, open the coverage list of Europe & United States 54 and find every stop by name.
- Which networks can you use? United States eSIM lists Verizon; Special lists AT&T and Verizon; United States & Canada lists AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon; North America lists Verizon; Europe & United States 54 lists AT&T. Our page says 5G where available, otherwise 4G.
- Might you need to add data mid-trip? On Special and United States & Canada eSIM every plan can be topped up. On the other three, only daily plans can.
- Does your IP location matter? Only United States eSIM may connect through the US (it may also use Belgium or Singapore). North America connects through Singapore, United States & Canada through Poland and Europe & United States 54 through Poland or the United Kingdom, and our page says a few US sites, such as streaming services, may treat you as outside the US. The IP location does not change your phone’s GPS location.
Also check the start window if you buy early: United States eSIM, North America eSIM and Europe & United States 54 give you 90 days from purchase to start, and Special and United States & Canada give you 60.
Decision table
| Your trip | Start with |
|---|---|
| United States only, daily plans on Verizon | United States eSIM |
| United States only, one allowance you can top up | United States eSIM Special |
| A long stay with daily data for up to 90 days | United States & Canada eSIM |
| The US with Canada | United States & Canada eSIM, or North America eSIM for Verizon in both |
| The US with Canada and Mexico | North America eSIM |
| The US plus Europe on one eSIM | Europe & United States 54, after checking every stop by name |
| You want US websites to see a US connection | United States eSIM, which may connect through the US |
When should I install, and how do I start?
All five start when they first connect in a covered country, and the page says you can install the eSIM and turn it off while you are outside its coverage. Install over Wi-Fi before you fly, label the line and switch it on after you land. For United States eSIM, United States & Canada eSIM and North America eSIM, the page says to turn data roaming on for that plan after you arrive. Follow the instructions in your delivery email and the eSIM installation guide. To add data to an eligible plan during the trip, use the top-up page.
Common questions
Which is the best eSIM for the USA?
It depends on your trip. For the US alone, United States eSIM suits daily plans on Verizon and United States eSIM Special suits one allowance you can top up. For a trip that includes Canada, Mexico or Europe, compare the regional plans.
Does a USA eSIM come with a US phone number?
No. Every plan that covers the United States is data only, with no calls or SMS. See data-only eSIMs: calls, SMS and WhatsApp for how to keep using your home number alongside it.
Will websites think I am in the US?
It depends on the plan. United States eSIM may connect through the US, Belgium or Singapore, North America eSIM through Singapore, United States & Canada eSIM through Poland and Europe & United States 54 through Poland or the United Kingdom. Where it is not the US, a few US sites, such as streaming services, may treat you as outside the US.
What happens when I use up my daily data?
Your speed drops until the next daily reset: to 128 kbps on United States eSIM, North America eSIM and Europe & United States 54, and to 512 kbps on United States & Canada eSIM. Unused daily data does not roll over.
Can I top up a USA eSIM?
Every United States eSIM Special and United States & Canada eSIM plan can be topped up. On the other three plans, daily plans can be topped up and one-allowance plans cannot.
Can I share data by hotspot?
Yes. Every plan that covers the United States allows hotspot, and it uses the same data allowance.
When should I install my eSIM?
Any time before you fly, as long as you start it within the window: 90 days from purchase for United States eSIM, North America eSIM and Europe & United States 54, and 60 days for United States eSIM Special and United States & Canada eSIM. The days begin when the eSIM first connects in a covered country.
