Türkiye eSIM: Türk Telekom and Vodafone, or add Turkcell?
Turkey eSIM or Turkey eSIM Premium? Both use Türk Telekom and Vodafone, Premium adds Turkcell, and the data, start rule and top-up terms are the same.

On this page
Both Türkiye country plans, Turkey eSIM and Turkey eSIM Premium, connect to Türk Telekom and Vodafone; Premium adds Turkcell, so it has three networks it can use instead of two. Everything else on the two plan pages is the same: the data options, validity, start rule, IP location, top-up rules and hotspot. So the choice comes down to whether you want Turkcell on the list, and the price difference for the same data and days on the Türkiye eSIM plans page.
What is the same and what is different
These facts come from our Türkiye destination page and the two product pages, checked on 5 November 2026. The plan page is the final word if anything changes.
| Turkey eSIM | Turkey eSIM Premium | |
|---|---|---|
| Networks in Türkiye | Türk Telekom and Vodafone, both 3G/4G/5G | Türk Telekom, Turkcell and Vodafone, all 3G/4G/5G |
| When it starts | On first connection in Türkiye; use within 90 days of purchase | The same |
| IP location | Poland or the United Kingdom | The same |
| Daily data | 500 MB to 3 GB a day, for 1 to 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 days | The same |
| After the day’s data | Slows to 128 kbps until the reset, 24 hours after the plan started | The same |
| One allowance | 1 GB to 50 GB, for 7 to 30 days | The same |
| After the allowance | 1 GB and 2 GB plans end the connection; 3 GB and larger slow to 128 kbps | The same |
| Top-up | Daily plans only | The same |
| Hotspot | Supported | The same |
| Calls and SMS | Data only: no calls or SMS on this plan | The same |
What a third network does, and what it does not promise
Each plan page lists the networks the eSIM can connect to in Türkiye. Premium’s list has Turkcell as well as Türk Telekom and Vodafone, so the eSIM has one more network it is allowed to use.
A longer list is not a coverage promise. Both pages say the networks are set by the mobile service and can change without notice, and that coverage depends on the network in the area, your phone and other conditions, with 5G where available and 4G otherwise. We do not rank the three networks or claim that one covers a place better than another.
That leaves a simple way to decide:
- Choose Turkey eSIM Premium if you want Turkcell available too, for example because you would rather have three networks than two, or someone you trust at your destination has told you Turkcell is the one they use there.
- Choose Turkey eSIM if Türk Telekom and Vodafone are enough for you. Every other term is the same, so compare the two prices for the data and days you need.
Choose the data: daily or one allowance
Pick the shape of the data first, then the plan. A daily plan gives you a fresh allowance every 24 hours from activation; unused daily data does not roll over, and after the day’s allowance the speed drops to 128 kbps until the reset. The destination page says that is enough for messages but too slow for video. That slowdown is a fair-use limit, not extra full-speed data; the fair-use worksheet shows how to compare it.
A one-allowance plan gives you a single amount for the whole trip. Once it is used, 1 GB and 2 GB plans end the connection and larger plans slow to 128 kbps. One-allowance plans cannot be topped up, so choose enough data when you buy. Daily plans can be topped up on the top-up page.
Size the trip from your own phone’s usage with the travel eSIM data budget worksheet rather than a rule of thumb.
Install at home, start in Türkiye
Both plans start when they first connect to a network in Türkiye, and you have 90 days from purchase to start them. The pages say you can install the eSIM and turn it off while you are outside its coverage, and that you should turn data roaming on for the plan after you arrive.
- Install over Wi-Fi at home, following your delivery email and the eSIM installation guide.
- Label the line, for example “Türkiye”, and leave it off until you land.
- After landing, switch it on, choose it for mobile data, and turn data roaming on for that line.
- Keep your Malaysian line on if you need it for calls and SMS codes, with its data roaming off; keeping your Malaysian number for bank TAC has the steps.
If data does not connect, the product page’s troubleshooting starts with checking that the eSIM is on, selected for mobile data and allowed to use data roaming, then trying automatic network selection. Contact support before deleting the eSIM, because many profiles cannot be installed again. The no-internet checklist walks through the rest.
Websites will see Poland or the UK
Both plans route internet traffic through Poland or the United Kingdom, so websites may see your connection as coming from one of those countries. This does not change your phone’s GPS location. The destination page says apps and maps still work normally, but a few sites may show content for that country.
Türkiye with other countries
If Türkiye is one stop on a longer trip, the destination page lists six regional plans that include it. Each lists its own networks in Türkiye:
| Regional plan | Networks listed in Türkiye |
|---|---|
| Middle East & Central Asia 18 eSIM | Turkcell, Türk Telekom and Vodafone |
| Europe 49 eSIM | Türk Telekom, Turkcell and Vodafone |
| Europe & United States 54 eSIM | Turkcell, Türk Telekom and Vodafone |
| Balkans 11 eSIM | Türk Telekom, Turkcell and Vodafone |
| Discover Europe eSIM | Türk Telekom and Turkcell |
| Balkans 12 (Kosovo) eSIM | Turkcell and Türk Telekom |
The destination page says the Middle East & Central Asia 18 eSIM covers Saudi Arabia, on Mobily, and Türkiye on one eSIM, which suits an umrah trip with a stop in Istanbul; see the umrah eSIM guide for the Saudi part. Discover Europe and Europe 49 cover Türkiye with Europe; the Europe eSIM data guide explains how to check every country on the route.
Decision table
| Your trip | Start with |
|---|---|
| Türkiye only, and Türk Telekom and Vodafone are enough | Turkey eSIM |
| Türkiye only, and you want Turkcell available too | Turkey eSIM Premium |
| Steady use every day | A daily plan on either, which you can top up |
| Uneven days, or one big upload | A one-allowance plan on either, sized with the data worksheet |
| Umrah with a stop in Istanbul | Middle East & Central Asia 18 eSIM |
| Türkiye with European countries | Europe 49 or Discover Europe, after checking every stop |
Common questions
Which Turkey eSIM should I choose?
Both use Türk Telekom and Vodafone. Choose Turkey eSIM Premium if you want Turkcell as well, so the eSIM has three networks instead of two. The data options, start rule, IP location, top-up rules and hotspot are the same, so compare the prices for the data and days you need.
Does a Turkey eSIM use Turkcell?
Only Turkey eSIM Premium lists Turkcell, alongside Türk Telekom and Vodafone. Turkey eSIM lists Türk Telekom and Vodafone.
Do the Turkey eSIMs have 5G?
Both plan pages list their networks in Türkiye on 3G, 4G and 5G, with 5G where available and 4G otherwise. Coverage depends on the network in the area, your phone and other conditions.
Will websites think I’m in Turkey?
No. Both plans connect through Poland or the United Kingdom, so websites see that location. A few sites may show content for that country.
Does a Turkey eSIM come with a phone number?
No. Both are data only, with no calls or SMS on the plan. Use WhatsApp or email for hotels and tours, and keep your Malaysian line on for SMS. Data-only eSIMs: calls, SMS and WhatsApp explains the options.
Can I top up a Turkey eSIM?
Daily plans can be topped up on both. Plans with one data allowance cannot, so choose enough data when you buy.
